Hillsborough Winter Scene

Hillsborough Winter Scene

In this winter scene of Hillsborough lake - William Cunningham has captured a real sense of warmth due to his use of strong warm colours throughout the painting. Snow scenes are notoriously cold, suiting the colder weather, however this piece would hang beautifully thoughout the year.

Charles McAuley

Castle Gallery has recently aquired three Oils by renowned Irish Landscape Artist Charles McAuley. The Dall river scene is a perfect example of McAuleys ability to capture the flow of water. The Figures 'Gathering Driftwood', is McAuley at his best capturing the honest hardship of the local people in his area. This piece was painted in October 1974.

Early Markey Robinson

Early Markey Robinson

We have just aquired a very early Markey Robinson which has been in a private collection since the early sixties, when it was purchased from the Bell Gallery. It has been in the collection of a reowned Art Historian until now. Markeys thick black lines didn't appear in his work until around this period. It is in its original frame and displays exquisite draughtmanship. For the avid Markey collector this piece is a must.
